Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Northern Guilford

Northern Guilford hadn't done well against Northwest Guilford recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Nighthawks walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Vikings. The win was familiar territory for the Nighthawks, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Dakotah Wilkins was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Headen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Northern Guilford's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest Guilford, they moved to 10-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
