Basketball Recap: Humble Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Lilly Mcmullen and Deriyah Williams

Humble Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Second Baptist University-Model Eagles, falling 56-30. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Humble Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Deriyah Williams and Lilly McMullen. Williams went 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points and four steals, while McMullen posted eight points. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.

Humble Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Second Baptist University-Model, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2.

Humble Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 35-12 defeat against Annapolis Christian Academy on the 25th. As for Second Baptist University-Model, they will host Lifestyle Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
