Baseball Recap: Lamar Christian Has No Trouble Against Newton County Academy

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Lamar Christian and Newton County Academy, and Lamar Christian kept the tradition alive. The Lions were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Generals on Thursday. Considering the Lions have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Blade Davenport's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddox Rimes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. DJ Parhm was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Lamar Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Newton County Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lamar Christian beat the Generals by a score of 11-10 later that day.
