Baseball Recap: Grainger Takes a Loss

Grainger was the 9-6 winner over Northview Academy when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 12-11 on Thursday.

Kade Lucas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Grainger is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Wallace, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Grainger's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-11. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Northview Academy, they moved to 2-13 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Grainger will take on Volunteer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northview Academy, they will face off against Seymour at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
