Basketball Recap: Fountain Central Comes Up Short

Fountain Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 56-37 to the Crawfordsville Athenians. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Athenians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Crawfordsville found their leader in freshman Johnovan Smith, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Smith is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Saidian, who went 6 for 10 en route to 16 points.

Fountain Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Crawfordsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Fountain Central has already played their next game (against Faith Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Crawfordsville has already played their next contest, a 56-44 defeat against Southmont on the 25th.
