Basketball Recap: Alexander's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Alexander won the last time they faced South Paulding and things went their way on Friday too. The Alexander Cougars came out on top against the South Paulding Spartans by a score of 65-55. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Spartans are ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexander has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for South Paulding, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

Alexander will face off against New Manchester at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Manchester knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Alexander likes a good challenge. As for South Paulding, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Douglas County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. South Paulding has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 179 points over their last three games.
