Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a good run, but Unity Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 41-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] Titans. The Lions lost against the Titans in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 56-17 score last time.

Leading Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] to victory were Taylor Williams and Cara Phillips. Williams went 7 for 12 on her way to 14 points and three steals, while Phillips posted 12 points and three steals. Williams is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Ehlers, who had seven points and three steals.

Unity Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5. As for Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland], the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Unity Christian will take on Cerro Gordo/Bement in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] and Arcola will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland]'s favor as the team sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Arcola has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
