Baseball Game Preview: Auburn Tigers vs. Smiths Station Panthers

The Auburn Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Smiths Station Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Auburn lost 11-5 to Opelika on Thursday.

Auburn got a good showing from Hank Brantley, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brantley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lawson Hare was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Smiths Station was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Central.

Smiths Station's loss dropped their record down to 12-22. As for Auburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15.

Auburn beat Smiths Station 3-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
