Basketball Recap: Babcock Falls Short of Seacrest Country Day in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Babcock can now relate to. They were dealt a 59-28 loss at the hands of the Seacrest Country Day Stingrays on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Stingrays are ranked 55th).

Despite the loss, Babcock still got an impressive performance from Marianeliz Murillo, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mia Schmitz, who posted six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seacrest Country Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dragana Scepanovic, who put up 13 points and six boards. Dailin Delgado was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Babcock's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Seacrest Country Day, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Babcock and Seacrest Country Day's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Babcock and Gulf Coast HEAT (who has only given up 29.88 points per game) will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Seacrest Country Day will take on Cambridge Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, a squad that's only allowed 30 points per game.
