Preview: Constantine Falcons vs. Ovid-Elsie Marauders
The Constantine Falcons will stay at home for another week and welcome the Ovid-Elsie Marauders at 1:00 p.m. on November 11th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Constantine had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against Buchanan by a score of 21-14 on Saturday.
Constantine relied on the efforts of Brendan Presswood, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Bennett Vandenberg, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Ovid-Elsie can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-13 win over Lansing Catholic. The victory was nothing new for Ovid-Elsie as they're now sitting on four straight.
Clayton Fruchey and Tryce Tokar were among the main playmakers for Ovid-Elsie as the former rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry and the latter rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Tokar really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Constantine's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.3 points. As for Ovid-Elsie, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Saturday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Constantine has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 315.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ovid-Elsie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 178.9 per game. It's looking like Saturday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
