Baseball Recap: Marine City Beats Clintondale for Their Third Straight Victory

Marine City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Clintondale Dragons with a sharp 18-0 win. The Mariners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Reese Hopkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, Emmet Hoski was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Landon Agosta was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Marine City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clintondale only posted an OBP of .182.

Marine City's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Clintondale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

As of now, neither Marine City nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
