Dr. Phillips extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 14-5 in the process. Everything went their way against the West Orange Warriors as they made off with a 15-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 12 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Briana Lohr was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Rome, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Dr. Phillips always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Orange only posted an OBP of .400.
As for West Orange, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row.
On West Orange's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cali Flowers, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Audrey Carrien also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Looking ahead, Dr. Phillips will head out on the road to face off against Windermere at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Orange, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-3 loss against Olympia on the 28th.
