Basketball Preview: Faith Christian Lions vs. Valley Christian Lions
The Faith Christian Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Valley Christian Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Faith Christian humbled the Saints with a 57-28 victory.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sacramento Country Day 93-54 on the road. Valley Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Valley Christian can attribute much of their success to Ian Glaspy, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten rebounds, and 11 assists, and Chase Clary, who scored 31 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Clary hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Malachi Urena was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Faith Christian's win bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Valley Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-9.
Faith Christian suffered a grim 88-66 defeat to the Lions in their previous meeting back in January. Can Faith Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
