Softball Game Preview: Woodside Wildcats vs. Sequoia Ravens

Woodside and Sequoia are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Woodside Wildcats will face off against the Sequoia Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodside is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Woodside took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hillsdale, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Woodside had just enough and edged out Hillsdale 3-2.

Hannah Walker spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Woodside saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marisa Calderon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Sequoia came up short against Mercy on Wednesday and fell 9-5.

Sequoia now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Woodside, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Woodside skirted past Sequoia 4-3 in their previous meeting back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodside since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
