Volleyball Recap: Houston Wildcats vs. New Knoxville Rangers
After flying high against Bradford on Saturday, Houston came back down to earth. The Wildcats came up short against the New Knoxville Rangers on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
Houston took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-13, 25-20.
Makenna Vondenhuevel paced Houston's offense, picking up four kills. Vondenhuevel got some help from Lauryn Crim and her 16 assists.
New Knoxville found their leader in sophomore Lela Gottschalk, who had four digs and four aces. Gottschalk has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.
Houston's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for New Knoxville, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Coming up, Houston is taking a road trip to square off against Fort Loramie at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The match will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for New Knoxville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Botkins at 7:00 p.m.
