Baseball Recap: Apollo Triumphs

Apollo won the last time they faced Warren East and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Raiders. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Carter Kimmel looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Apollo's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ross Milburn, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Grayson Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Apollo's record now sits at 14-7. As for Warren East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Apollo will square off against Owensboro at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.3, the Red Devils 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Warren East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Christian County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
