Soccer Game Preview: Platt vs. Southington

The Platt Panthers will head out to challenge the Southington Blue Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

Platt is headed into Friday's matchup following a draw, the team's first since September 3. They and Berlin finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Southington's offense. They lost 4-0 to Middletown on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Southington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Middletown are ranked 12th).

With that draw, Platt's record moves to 6-2-2. As for Southington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season.

Platt suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Southington in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
