Basketball Recap: Modesto Panthers vs. Downey Knights
Modesto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss. They took a 49-33 bruising from the Downey Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-60 back in January.
Downey found their leader in sophomore Solomon Paris, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds. Paris also grabbed four steals, which is notable because Downey is 2-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-20 otherwise. Andrew Miller was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine boards.
Modesto's defeat dropped their record down to 2-23. As for Downey, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-21.
Modesto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-42 loss against Turlock on the 12th. As for Downey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-41 defeat against Enochs on the 12th.
