            Baseball Preview: Monticello Mustangs vs. Rowan County Vikings        
        
		
        
        
            The Monticello Mustangs will head out to  square off against the Rowan County Vikings  at 11:00  a.m.  on Wednesday. Monticello is coming into the  match on  a  four-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Monticello came up short against Johnson Central  and fell  7-2. The  contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring  game so far this season.
 Monticello saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Bryson Jackson, who  went 1-for-3 with one  RBI.  Colin Jumper also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
Meanwhile, Rowan County came up short against  South Laurel on Tuesday, falling  13-6. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Aaron Pennington was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Carson Madden, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Rowan County's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Monticello, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Monticello has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 6.6  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rowan County struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 6.8  strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
