Softball Recap: Shelby County Comes Up Short

Gallatin County hit Shelby County with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets fell 11-8 to the Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-12 back in March.

Kaylee Cox put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Cox was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madison Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Shelby County dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Gallatin County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Shelby County will square off against Jeffersontown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gallatin County, they will take on Henry County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
