Preview: Wills Point Tigers vs. Ford Panthers
The Wills Point Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ford Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wills Point focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
After soaring to 49 points the game before, Wills Point were a bit more limited in their matchup. They were outmatched by Sunnyvale on the road and fell 69-7. Wills Point was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Meanwhile, Ford strolled past Lincoln with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 36-21.
Ford had a senior duo take command as Jeremiah Coleman rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries and Zalen Morales rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Payton Wallen also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Sunnyvale's win bumped their season record to 6-2 while Wills Point's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Wills Point has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ford struggles in that department as they've been even better at 286.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Wills Point took a serious blow against Ford when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 43-13. Will Wills Point have more luck at home instead of on the road?
