Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ezekiel Academy). They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Wiregrass Kings on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Colt Taylor made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brennan Hancock, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Layne Mims, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Ezekiel Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-11. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.5 hits in those games compared to only 3.83 in the others. As for Wiregrass, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Ezekiel Academy has already played their next contest, a 13-2 defeat against Fort Dale Academy on the 28th. As for Wiregrass, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 17-6 victory against Southern Christian on the 29th.
