The Boca Ciega Pirates will head out to face off against the Northeast Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Boca Ciega easily dispatched Gibbs on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Boca Ciega fell just short of Lakewood by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pirates have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Jacob Thompson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Yirvin Medina Suarez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Elliot Doughty also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Northeast came up short against Tarpon Springs on Wednesday and fell 8-3.
Northeast also got a good showing from Cooper White, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Michael Marley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Rodriquez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Northeast's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8. As for Boca Ciega, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14.
Boca Ciega might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Northeast in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Boca Ciega avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
