Basketball Game Preview: Field Falcons vs. Garfield G-Men

The Field Falcons will take on the Garfield G-Men in a holiday battle at at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Field has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Garfield will arrive with five straight wins.

On Thursday, Field came up short against Streetsboro and fell 63-51. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Rockets are ranked 35th).

While Garfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 71-56 victory over Liberty on Wednesday.

Garfield had a senior duo take command as Preston Gedeon went 9 for 16 on his way to 27 points and Aidan Hill went 8 of 13 en route to 20 points along with eight assists and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Gedeon has scored at least a third of Garfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Edic, who posted ten points and six assists.

Garfield pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Field, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
