The Triton Trojans will head out to take on the Caston Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Triton came up into this matchup off a tough 35-point defeat two weeks ago. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Pioneer by a score of 41-38 last Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trojans have suffered since November 12, 2024.

Despite their defeat, Triton saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sydney King, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most points King has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Viers, who posted five points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Even though they lost, Triton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Caston came up short against North Miami on Saturday, falling 56-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Comets have suffered against the Warriors since December 10, 2019.
Despite the defeat, Caston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madisyn Douglass had 19 points and six rebounds. That was a full 54.3% of Caston's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Craig, who put up four points.
Triton's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Caston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Triton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Caston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Triton was dealt a bruising 50-20 defeat at the hands of Caston when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Triton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
