Basketball Recap: Dorchester Academy Comes Up Short

Dorchester Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 71-59 to the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils. The Raiders were down 58-36 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Leading Charleston Collegiate to victory were Thomas Reed and Grant Morrison. Reed went 9 of 18 on his way to 27 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals, while Morrison went 7 for 16 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. Morrison is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Smith, who posted eight points and five boards.

Dorchester Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Charleston Collegiate, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Faith Christian the next time they take the court. Dorchester Academy will host Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Charleston Collegiate will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
