Football Game Preview: Kirby Cougars vs. Lakeland Preparatory Lions

The Kirby Cougars will face off against the Lakeland Preparatory Lions on Friday.

Kirby's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Southwind on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Jaguars and fell 51-0. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Lakeland Preparatory got themselves on the board against Ridgeway on Friday, but Ridgeway never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 35-0 win over the Roadrunners. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Lakeland Preparatory's win came from a few key players Kirby will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brett Godwin, who threw for 202 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Lakeland Preparatory's leading receiver Anden Quinn was Godwin's top target yet again, picking up 81 receiving yards and three scores.

Kirby's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Lakeland Preparatory, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
