Basketball Recap: Crownpoint Eagles vs. Navajo Prep Eagles

The Crownpoint Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Navajo Prep, falling 88-16. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Crownpoint has scored all season.

Navajo Prep was led to victory by Breygen Benally and Jude Thomas. Benally scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Thomas almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benally has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Nez, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Crownpoint has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Navajo Prep, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Crownpoint will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thoreau is on a six-game streak of home losses, the Eagles a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Navajo Prep will take on the Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newcomb is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
