Waverly faced Lincoln Southwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Vikings beat the Silver Hawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on 11 straight.

Brennan Miller was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Thoms, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Waverly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Southwest only posted a batting average of .160.

Waverly pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Lincoln Southwest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Waverly didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Kearney on the 25th. As for Lincoln Southwest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-3 defeat against Creighton Prep on the 25th.
