The North Canyon Rattlers will head out to take on the Verrado Vipers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Canyon has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for North Canyon after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 13-3 to Vista Grande. The Rattlers haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

North Canyon got a good showing from Eli Villarreal, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Villarreal also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Rattlers are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, North Canyon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JORGE CORDERO, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Verrado waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Sidewinders. With that victory, the Vipers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Colton Zacher and Nolan Raissle made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Zacher pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Meanwhile, Raissle pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Zacher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Zacher got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Raissle got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple and one run. That's the most runs Zacher has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Bebleh, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Bode Acton was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Verrado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.
North Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Verrado, their record now sits at 9-5-1.
