Volleyball Recap: Eagle Valley Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cadence Aguilar and Reese Wright

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Eagle Valley and Glenwood Springs meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Devils fell just short of the Demons by a score of 3-2. The Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Demons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Eagle Valley took Glenwood Springs into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 20-25, 25-27, 25-18, 15-12.

Eagle Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Reese Wright and Cadence Aguilar. Wright had 11 digs and two aces, while Aguilar had eight kills and eight digs. Aguilar has been hot recently, having posted eight or more kills the last three times she's played.

Eagle Valley's loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Glenwood Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Eagle Valley and Glenwood Springs should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Devils will square off against Delta at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (117 vs. 242). Meanwhile, Glenwood Springs (ranked 54th) will meet Rifle (ranked 286th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
