Soccer Game Preview: McCallum vs. Bastrop

The McCallum Knights will square off against the Bastrop Bears at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Bastrop took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on McCallum, who comes in off a win.

McCallum's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Richards School for Young Women Leaders. Considering the Knights have won ten matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Bastrop fell victim to Anderson and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Trojans are ranked 102nd).

McCallum's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five contests. As for Bastrop, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12-1 record this season.

Everything went McCallum's way against Bastrop in their previous meeting back in February, as McCallum made off with a 5-0 victory. Does McCallum have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bastrop turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
