Basketball Game Preview: Deer Valley Skyhawks vs. Peoria Panthers

Deer Valley and Peoria are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Deer Valley Skyhawks will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Peoria Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Deer Valley is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Cactus: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Deer Valley blew Cactus out of the water with an 87-34 final score. The Skyhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Peoria didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Agua Fria on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 68-64 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Deer Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Peoria, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Everything went Deer Valley's way against Peoria in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Deer Valley made off with a 61-36 victory. In that game, Deer Valley amassed a halftime lead of 40-19, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
