Basketball Game Preview: Forest Wildcats vs. Santaluces Chiefs

Two dominant guards in Ja'Niyah McCoy and Jaedeyn Garvin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Forest Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Santaluces Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Forest's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.

Forest will head into Saturday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 40-point drubbing they dealt Indian Rocks Christian on Saturday. Forest simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Indian Rocks Christian 62-22. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 22 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Janaina Wess, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January. Jiyah Hamilton was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points.

Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Rocks Christian only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Santaluces, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They managed a 34-29 victory over Stoneman Douglas on Monday. While the Chiefs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Forest is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Santaluces, their record is now 6-4.
