Baseball Game Preview: Griswold Wolverines vs. Stonington Bears

The Griswold Wolverines will challenge the Stonington Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Griswold is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Griswold's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Killingly on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly four runs.

Meanwhile, Stonington never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Montville as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Bears have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jace Wolfradt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brayden Wolfradt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Stonington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Stonington is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Griswold, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
