Basketball Recap: Tomas Sets Scoring Season-High Against Columbia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tomas). They were the clear victors by a 58-32 margin over the Columbia Roughnecks on Thursday.

Octave Houegbelo was nothing short of spectacular: he shot 70% from the field to rack up 18 points and three steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stanley Madebuike, who posted two points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Tomas was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Tomas' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Tomas and Columbia will both be playing Mayde Creek the next time they take the court. The Gators will head out to face the Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Roughnecks will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
