Football Recap: Covina Colts vs. Los Altos Conquerors
Covina was the 23-18 winner over Los Altos when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Colts were beaten by the Conquerors 47-6 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while the Conquerors are ranked 247th).
Roy Vazquez threw for 73 yards on 11 of 18 attempts. Matt Olivas was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards. On the ground, Gatsbee Gumban rushed for 118 yards.
DIEGO CASTILLO continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Los Altos, throwing for 278 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushing for 47 yards. A healthy portion of CASTILLO's aerial production (92 yards to be exact) went to GAVIN FLORES, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Covina and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Los Altos, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Covina wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-28 defeat against Diamond Bar on the 16th. As for Los Altos, they have also already played their next matchup, a 28-14 victory against Chino on the 16th.
