Soccer Recap: Veterans Memorial Comes Up Short

If Veterans Memorial was riding high fresh off their 4-1 takedown of Hanna last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Veterans Memorial Chargers lost 6-0 to the Los Fresnos Falcons on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Falcons are ranked 25th).

Veterans Memorial's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matches. As for Los Fresnos, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Coming up, Veterans Memorial will take on San Benito at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Los Fresnos, they will challenge Harlingen at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Fresnos is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.
