Basketball Game Preview: North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers vs. Benton Central Bison

North Montgomery and Benton Central are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Benton Central Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, North Montgomery turned things around against North Vermillion on Saturday. They walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Falcons. The win was all the more spectacular given the Chargin' Chargers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Falcons are ranked 173rd).

Kelby Harwood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 10 en route to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Enlow, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Benton Central strolled past Fountain Central with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 52-36. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Bison this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Benton Central and bumps their season record up to 7-10. As for North Montgomery, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10.

North Montgomery came up short against Benton Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 49-40. Can North Montgomery avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
