Suggested Video

The Caliche Buffaloes will venture away from home to take on the La Veta Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Caliche is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Caliche will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 21) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their defense stepped up to hand Flagler a 2-0 shutout. The two-point effort marked the Buffaloes' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Veta). They claimed a resounding 60-12 victory over Antonito on the road. With the Redhawks ahead 30-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

La Veta found their leader in underclassman Sunny Kent, who rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also caught a touchdown. Kent's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Another player making a difference was Kaydyn Kent, who gained 92 total yards and three touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, La Veta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

La Veta didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kyle Presely and Kendall Ingram. La Veta got some further help from Tayten Medina: he picked up two sacks, forced two fumbles, and made eight total tackles.

Caliche's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for La Veta, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
