Softball Recap: Waynedale Golden Bears vs. Hiland Hawks
Waynedale won the last time they faced Hiland and things went their way on Saturday too. The Golden Bears were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Golden Bears, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hailey Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Carleigh Lynch was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Rising, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Waynedale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win got Waynedale back to even at 4-4. As for Hiland, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Looking ahead, Waynedale will square off against Dalton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hiland, they will face off against Indian Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
