Softball Recap: Superior Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Superior entered their tilt with Chippewa Falls on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-0 on Monday.

Melania Luostari was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige 'Peeps' Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Arianna Robillard was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Superior pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Chippewa Falls, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Superior and Chippewa Falls should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 61st) will meet Denfeld (ranked 279th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chippewa Falls will face off against Eau Claire Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (51 vs. 244).
