The Edgewater Eagles are ranked highly in their home state, and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Redondo Union Sea Hawks. Edgewater took a 76-61 bruising from Redondo Union. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Edgewater lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Myles Mayfield, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Zion Mitchell, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.

Edgewater's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Redondo Union, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Edgewater will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on January 17, 2024. Redondo Union's road trip will continue as they head out to face Dublin at 12:30 p.m. on December 27th.
