Soccer Recap: Cardinal Newman Comes Up Short

After soaring to five goals the game before, Cardinal Newman was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Ben Lippen Falcons by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Cardinal Newman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Ben Lippen are ranked 35th).

Cardinal Newman has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Ben Lippen, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Coincidentally, Cardinal Newman and Ben Lippen will both be playing Hammond the next time they take the pitch. The Cardinals will head out to face the Skyhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on the 24th.
