Baseball Game Preview: Orestimba Warriors vs. Hughson Huskies

Orestimba is 2-7 against Hughson since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Orestimba will be playing in front of their home fans against Hughson at 4:00 p.m.

Orestimba is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Sonora.

Jaden Sotelo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Donovan Torres, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Hughson came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted against the Lions since May 14, 2015.

Beau Blake was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Guizar, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Hughson pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Orestimba, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Orestimba has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hughson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Orestimba came up short against Hughson when the teams last played back in June of 2021, falling 8-5. Can Orestimba avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
