Recap: Eastside Early College Panthers vs. Crockett Cougars
This season hasn't been kind to The Eastside Early College Panthers, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 47-0 loss at the hands of Crockett. Eastside Early College lost against Crockett in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-0 score last time.
Cameron Dickey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crockett, rushing for 211 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, while also throwing for 109 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes. Dickey is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Jamari Wilson also helped out with an impressive 126 receiving yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Eastside Early College to a paltry 22 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Crockett's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Caleb Dickey and his two sacks.
Eastside Early College's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 2-8 Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin and 2-8 Austin Achieve (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 40.3% over those games). As for Crockett, the victory was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastside Early College will take on LBJ Austin at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. LBJ Austin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eastside Early College in Texas (LBJ Austin is ranked 407th, while Eastside Early College is ranked 1199th). As for Crockett, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northeast Early College at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
