Basketball Recap: Wallkill Comes Up Short

Wallkill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Marlboro Central Dukes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since January 4, 2025.

Despite the loss, Wallkill still got an impressive performance from Alex Marshall, who shot 48% from the field en route to 35 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Marshall's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Desmond Lynch, who posted 14 points and five boards.

Wallkill's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Marlboro Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Wallkill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-53 victory against Roosevelt on the 14th. As for Marlboro Central, they will venture away from home to take on the Cougars at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
