Baseball Recap: Junction City Triumphs

Junction City won the last time they faced Poyen and things went their way on Monday too. The Dragons walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Indians. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dragons.

Jaxon Temple spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Graham Hanry, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Junction City is 4-2 when Hanry posts two or more runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Cates, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Junction City now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Poyen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Junction City will square off against rival Woodlawn at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Poyen is set to challenge their familiar foe Parkers Chapel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
