The North Decatur Chargers will face off against the Knightstown Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Decatur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
North Decatur's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Waldron 12-0. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Brooklyn White made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Kendall Hostkoetter and Madison Rohls did most of the damage at the plate: Hostkoetter went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Rohls went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most RBI Hostkoetter has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Libby Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
North Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Knightstown challenged Hagerstown on Tuesday. The Panthers came up short against the Tigers, falling 12-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Knightstown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lanee Swindell, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Knightstown now has a losing record of 7-8. As for North Decatur, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Decatur hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .398. However, it's not like Knightstown struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
