Baseball Recap: West Point Takes a Loss

If West Point was feeling good fresh off their 16-2 takedown of Louisville on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Green Wave lost 8-2 to the Eupora Eagles on Tuesday. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

J'Michael Strong and Chase Colvin stepped up to the plate in a big way. Strong went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI, while Colvin went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Colvin has become a key player for West Point: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.

West Point's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Eupora, the victory also got them back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, West Point will welcome Nettleton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eupora, they will head out to face off against South Pontotoc at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
